Seven years filled with miles, with messages that felt like hugs from afar. Our love has crossed borders, timelines, and silences that speak volumes, and yet we're still here, closer than ever, ready to write the most beautiful chapter in our history together.

A calenda is a traditional Oaxacan celebration that has become a manifestation of community joy. It originated in the 16th century with Dominican missionaries as a form of evangelization, blending Catholic traditions with pre-Hispanic customs. Today, calendas are festive processions used to announce important events, such as the beginning of patron saint festivals, the Guelaguetza, and also for personal celebrations such as weddings, quinceañeras, and graduations. The elements that make up a typical calenda are: Music: Wind bands and drums playing traditional sones and jarabes. Calenda monkeys: Giant cardboard or papier-mâché figures representing traditional characters or, in the case of weddings, the bride and groom. Marmotas: Large decorated fabric spheres representing light and joy, guiding the procession. Chinas Oaxaqueñas: Women who dance while carrying baskets of flowers on their heads.
